PIONEERS’N’
LEGENDS
«THE SPIRIT OF ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP».
A PIONEERING SPIRIT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND INNOVATION
"Pioneers’n’Legends – The Spirit of Entrepreneurial Leadership" is an exclusive series of events initiated by the Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Zurich University of Applied Sciences in partnership with the Büro Züri of Zürcher Kantonalbank. Driven by entrepreneurial spirit and passion, we are turning the old fire station at Dübendorf air base into a place of inspired exchange for entrepreneurial innovators and founders.
OUR PIONEERS’N’LEGENDS
Pioneers’n’Legends
The keynote speakers are pioneers and legends in their respective fields. They are prepared to share their wealth of experience and provide new impulses and ways of thinking with people interested in founding a company, entrepreneurial innovators, and start-up founders.
PnL EVENT
The topic of each evening event is related to the overall theme, "Entrepreneurial Leadership." In a keynote speech, the speakers talk about their insights and experiences concerning a specific focus topic. This is followed by a Q&A session.
PnL MASTERCLASS
The PnL Masterclass offers a supplement and consolidation to the PnL Events and takes place as a workshop of several days on selected topics related to "Entrepreneurial Leadership".

Positive Leadership for Startups - Mastering turbulent Times
Particularly in times of great uncertainty and change, everyday management in start-ups can become a human test of strength. But usually we have more leeway than we realize. A fascinating key lies in Positive Psychology, the science of successful living and working. As soon as we have understood how the brain and mind work, numerous possibilities open up to organize our daily work routine in such a way that we feel more efficient and motivated. Based on central findings from psychology, behavioural economics and brain research, former McKinsey consultant Dr. Kerstin Humberg and ZHAW Prof. Dr. Adrian W. Müller show which factors influence our inner strength and how we can train it in times of corona. Selected examples and interventions illustrate the importance of emotional agility for effective leadership and self-management in the new working environment. In addition to the opportunity to reflect on personal drivers of happiness and success, this PnL Masterclass provides numerous techniques and tips in the form of "Life Hacks" for more optimism and resilience in everyday leadership.

RAPHAEL GIELGEN
(25.11.2020)

Do you know the one from your company that some people think is crazy? Raphael Gielgen is one of these colleagues. His irrepressible curiosity, his restless search for explanations, and his desire to turn everything upside down make him uncomfortable at times - and when he returns to the office after a long journey, he talks about things that sound more like virtual utopia than lived reality. He visits more than 100 companies a year, the world is his workplace, the future his field of research. His task is to travel the world and meet the protagonists of a new era. He documents the findings and experiences on a "panorama" - a map of the trends and patterns of a new world.

GIAN
SIMMEN (13.12.2019)

Gian Simmen became the first Olympic snowboarding champion in the halfpipe on 12 February 1998. In the pouring rain of Nagano, Japan, he surprisingly won the gold medal for Switzerland. When he travelled to Japan, he was still an unknown athlete, but in the following years he went on to influence halfpipe snowboarding considerably.
It was also thanks to him that snowboarding became socially acceptable. Gian Simmen won several World Cups during his career and was crowned World Champion in 2001 and 2002.
Despite various injuries, he fought his way back to the top again and again.
Today, he is a father of four working in marketing at Jungfrau Railways. In addition, he is a brand ambassador of various products and can be seen on Swiss TV as a snowboarding expert during competitions - and he still loves snowboarding as he did on the first day.
